It is a polysaccharide found in the cell walls of some yeasts and fungi, as well as cereals. Scientific studies show that consumption of beta-glucans mobilizes the immune system. The immune system has the ability to recognize pathogens and when they are "detected", it triggers an immune response in the form of macrophages and T-lymphocytes. Although beta-glucan is absolutely safe for health, our body treats it as a threat or a potential fungal infection.
